ANIMATING THE STAGE WITH LED VISUALS
To celebrate her 50th birthday, Jennifer Lopez embarked on a 10-week concert tour around North America.
J-Lo’s team, PRG, and VYV invited The Endless Co. to operate the stage visuals during each performance.
“It’s My Party” Tour was sophisticated in its production design and innovative in its use of LED screens. A large, modular LED wall flanked the back of the stage, separating and dividing like a sliding door.
In the center, three circular platforms were stacked to resemble a three-tiered cake. The platforms were wrapped with 582 LED tiles, transforming the sculptural stage piece into a digital birthday cake.
At one point in the show, during “Jenny from the Block,” a 3D train emerged from backstage, covered with 104 LED tiles of its own.
Content director Nick Millitello and creative directors Nappytabs searched for a technical solution to map every LED tile on the elaborate stage with video, motion graphics, and visual effects.
We turned to VYV’s advanced media server, called Photon — which allows for the highest quality media playback, detects the edges of each surface, and enables real-time effects.
The Endless Co. was responsible for programming and operating the Photon system during each live show.
We both played existing video content and visualized our own real-time effects. Improvised sparkles, glows, fades, and more combined to give each show its own distinct character.
Worked with VYV project manager Drew Atienza and a team of LED techs, we executed this large-scale production every night of the tour.
