For the launch of Rihanna’s SAVAGE x FENTY lingerie line, The Endless Co. was approached by PRODJECT to execute a holographic projection of the icon herself.

Rihanna wanted a larger-than-life visual to stun attendees at the fashion show. We delivered an 18-foot hologram using state-of-the-art projection technology and a centuries-old illusion technique called Pepper’s Ghost.

Fans first traverse a maze of projection mapped surfaces and LED walls before arriving at center stage. They are engulfed in darkness — then the clicks of Rihanna’s heels echo throughout the space to tease her arrival.

A moving hologram of Rihanna flashes onto the stage with vivid clairty, as she models one of her pieces and towers over the fans below. Our visual effects artists fabricated momentary glitches that reveal Rihanna teleporting to a new spot on the stage or wearing a different product from her line.

We brought together bright projection, precise staging, and immersive sound design to create a high fidelity hologram.

Several thousand people saw the brief projection in person, and millions more interacted with video documentation on social media. At the time, in 2018, it was the largest human hologram ever made.
