WHY UTILIZE AR/VR/WEB FOR EDUCATION?

Virtual Reality simulations and Augmented Reality modules expose students and teachers alike to a new pedagogy -- one that prizes active participation, concentrated focus, and first-person experience. By 2025, the educational VR/AR market is expected to exceed $700 million (Goldman Sachs).

DIGITAL REALTY

SUBJECT: TECHNOLOGY

REQUEST: Digital Realty, a leader in the data center industry, tasked The Endless Co. with building an educational VR experience that demystifies the technical and theoretical foundation underlying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies: blockchain.

EDUCATIONAL TOOL: We developed a three minute VR video that immerses stakeholders in the technical infrastructure of blockchain. The computer-generated VR world, coupled with voiceover, educates users about Bitcoin and vividly explains the data center industry’s role in actualizing blockchain’s potential.

American Chemical Society (AR)

SUBJECT: SCIENCE / CHEMISTRY

REQUEST: ACS asked The Endless Co. to build an Augmented Reality visualization tool that would bring their print publications to life with 3D crystallographic structures.

EDUCATIONAL TOOLS: We built a custom web-based conversion tool that enables scientists to upload and convert 3D molecular structures into AR models that are accessible via smartphone browsers (WebAR). These models can then be activated via QR codes in print publications, paving the way toward a new frontier of immersive and interactive textbooks.

American Chemical Society (VR)

SUBJECT: SCIENCE / CHEMISTRY

REQUEST: ACS trusted The Endless Co. with building immersive modules to educate the chemistry community about safety when working with pyrophoric chemicals.

EDUCATIONAL TOOLS: We collaborated with chemists at Vassar College to properly simulate lab safety protocols in Virtual Reality. Users watch the safety tutorials unfold in front of them, before the simulation asks them to practice the procedures.

DIGITAL HEALTH MEDIA

SUBJECT: SCIENCE / BIOLOGY

REQUEST: In 2012, Digital Health Media tasked The Endless Co. with rendering a photorealistic Augmented Reality heart for clinician training and student learning. The project challenged us to create a workable 3D asset despite the limitations of AR technology in 2012.

EDUCATIONAL TOOLS: We designed the photorealistic heart based on anatomical reference studies, 3D medical imagery and libraries of photo references. We modeled, textured, and rendered every ventricle, vein, and layer of tissue to create a highly accurate 3D model that clinicians and students alike could learn from.
