Painting Street Murals in Physical and Virtual Cities
SUPERCELL, makers of the celebrated mobile game Clash of Clans, trusted The Endless Co. with creating an innovative experience to engage the game’s fans beyond traditional social media channels.
We commissioned seven renowned street artists to paint murals around the US, each inspired by one of the game’s characters. The wall-scale graffiti artworks in cities like New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles were captured and composited into one VR art experience.
For the 360° video, our architectural visualization team built a photorealistic virtual neighborhood inspired by graffiti epicenters like South Side Chicago and Brooklyn.
Viewers fly through the city, encountering the colorful Clash of Clans murals on grayscale street corners and watching artist interviews scattered throughout the environment: on billboards, at bus stops, and in store windows.
Working with the artists Brosmind, Lauren YS, Smithe, Nychos, Mister Thoms, James Ellis, and McBess allowed us to create a campaign that left both a temporary imprint on the physical world and a permanent mark in the virtual environment.
The 360° video has been watched over 600,000 times on YouTube: it engaged the game’s active fan base, extending Clash of Clans culture from the smartphone screen to the built environment.
